Would someone who bought what they assume to be the newer
version of this display with improve brightness and contrast
please post part of your serial number.
Mine: 2A6211XXXXX (Xs represents the rest of my number)
date of manufacture: May 2006
Determined from the decoder at:
http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html
I'm trying to detemine if the one I just bought is in this new batch.
And if it isn't I want to return it quickly.
I have 15 days to return it and exchange if I don't want this display to the store
where I bought it (not from an Apple store).

Italian iTunes (Music) Store is down too, with the black screen.
and...i've found this http://www.apple.com/movies
Good catch, but someone found that yesterday or last night also. Apple must be getting SO much traffic right now...:p

2. AMD is far superior. Right now Intel is in the lead, but it's not a true lead. For the longest time, AMD had the better architecture. Intel had to do something, so they went back to the P3, tweaked it a little, and added some huge caches, and gave us a CPU modeled after a 6 year old (guessing here) CPU that ran at around the same GHZ speeds, but was faster.
This isn't actually correct (the what Intel did part, superiority is up for grabs). Intel did increase the cache size, but they did a significant overhaul of the chip design. Some details...

20gigs of free storage if you purchase a single album?
Purchase an MP3 album from the Amazon MP3 Store by 11:59 PM PST on December 31, 2011.
If you qualify for this offer and either have not signed up for Amazon Cloud Drive or have the 5GB Amazon Cloud Drive plan, you will be automatically eligible for the 20 GB plan for one year from the date of your MP3 album purchase. Unless you set your account to auto-renew to a paid plan, the 20 GB plan will revert to a free plan one year from the date of your MP3 album purchase.
If your Amazon Cloud Drive account is already at 20 GB or higher when you qualify for this offer, the offer will be saved to your account as a $20 credit toward any future Amazon Cloud Drive plan fees you may incur at the time your plan renews or at the time you upgrade your plan. If you elect to downgrade your plan to a free plan at the time of renewal, your upgrade offer will be applied towards the 20 GB plan at that time.
Note: Once we process your order, which could take up to 3 hours, your promotion will be applied and you will receive email notification that your Cloud Drive storage plan has been updated..
Note: This promotional offer limited to one promotional credit per customer.

My question was WHY.

Thanks for posting, looks scary but I like it! You planning on getting GPUs for the AMD systems? How do AMD processors go at f@h? Imagine if you got some GT260s on the 4 AMD systems
There is only one slot on those AMD machines that would hold a GT260, unfortunately. I may be retiring them soon anyway their output is meager at best. I will keep one of them for an admin machine using Ubuntu to watch over the other machines, maybe, if I can get things set up the way I want to.
I should have a new system (i7 980x) tomorrow, I will get it set up with Ubuntu to do bigadv units.

Wait, what, a CD? Do you come from the 90s? Why do you need to put it on a CD? Do you even know how this works? Do you know how heavy a laptop is compared to an iPad 2? Do you know how much it sucks to "just hand over" a laptop?
I didn't use the CD. The poster said they got the CD from the hospital with the scans on it, and then reviewed the images on the iPad.
And here lies the problem, when you REALLY need to do something, you need to have the flexibility to handle things that are thrown at you.

After all of the comments about how great Aperture ran, and considering how crappy it was running on mine, I decided to take into the Apple Store.
The video card is defective and they are replacing it. No wonder my experience with the program stunk.
:)
Slightly OT but I hope you bought the AppleCare for your PM that you were thinking about a few weeks ago ;) Back OT, let us know how it is once you get it back :) :) two smiles for your troubles...

So what do people think the resolution will be, for the movies? They better be more than the current tv shows and videos.
And honestly, I'd be upset if they only had higher resolution for movies, without upgrading the tv shows' as well.
EDIT: also, anyone notice the convenient home release date of disney's The Wild, as tomorrow? I would be tempted to check the quality out with a CG flick, especially one I haven't seen, that coincidentally stars the vocal talent of Eddie Izzard.

I used to work at BB (now an attorney).
Were this true, you would realize that there are fifty states each with their own crimes and with unique elements of those crimes. It would be difficult to make a blanket statement that OP committed "retail theft."
But what do I know - I'm only the President of the United States.

Hello everybody :),
I'm the autor of these pictures. I've made this with 3dsmax and Vray render. Photoshop has been just use to create the noise and resize the pictures.
For the perspective problem on the third pics, it's just a lens distortion of my camera.
Stop search, it's just a 3D render exercise.
I'm happy to see that my work unleashed passions but it's A FAKE.
To have more information, see : http://iphone4fake.over-blog.com
Now we have just to wait June to see the real truth.
(Sorry for my english, i'm french ^^ )

The better question here, is why do you feel so immune to violent crime?
What makes you think he feels immune to violent crime?
The opposite is probably true.
The fact that guns are so prevalent in America makes it more likely that any one of us will find ourselves on the wrong end of one.
Given the choice, I'd much rather have the robber hold me up with a knife, than a gun.
I shouldn't have to a gun on me to feel safe in my community.
I agree.
The old saying, guns don't kill people, people do, has a logical extension ...
Guns don't protect people, people do.
We need to rely less on bullets, and more on each other.

same with me. On IE7 running Vista
Edit: Now works! :)
Works now for me too.
Win7 with IE9.
Had to log out of the forum, delete all cookies and restart the computer.
Then I logged back in and the arrows work without bringing me to the main forum section any more:)
Edit:
It was working fine for 15-20 and now started doing it again. I didnt log out or even closed the IE page I had open.
I dont know whats up, seems like its still buggy....

Ummmm incorrect. I have a major surgery coming up and the only way me and my doctor could sit down together and review the CT Scan was with my iPad 2 since all CT Scans are done on digital now instead of film. I simply stopped by the hospital and snagged the cd the night before my appointment and loaded it before I left the next day.
My doctor said this was on his wish list, but he couldn't find anywhere in stock.
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d5/audiogodz1/dc1cacec.jpg
The "Only way" ?
What, you could not use a laptop?
And how would an iPad only owner read the CD in the 1st place?
Yes the iPad made a nice easy to use picture viewer once you had put the images on it from your real computer at home is what you are saying.
You could just of easy taken a laptop which read the CD images off directly onto the screen and no needed this new device whatsoever.

Everyone is harping on the MacBook Air because of it's lack of ports or an optical drive, but at the end of the day people are still going to want to buy it. It's a nice product.
I agree. It's a machine for a particular kind of user, one who values portability above all else. Looked at that way instead of from the "gee, it lacks...." point of view, it makes a lot of sense.
What often gets lost in these wish-list, "it should be easy to do THIS" discussions is the reality that all machines are compromises. What we get is driven by a lot of factors far beyond what is theoretically possible in a perfect world. Parts availability, cost of manufacture, market forces, engineering tradeoffs, etc. etc.
You need ports and an internal optical drive? You'll just have to live with a chassis big enough to hold them. Like that oh-so-CLUNKY (I mean it's a whole INCH thick! Horrors!), terribly obsolescent, dinosaur-like MacBook Pro.

Look at these numbers. Is that anything to write home about?
Shure E3C headphones for 139 instead of 199? I think you should write grandma immediately. Boy do they sound sweet!

hate to ask a stupid, perhaps already answered a gagillion times, question but
is there a live feed of today's proceedings?
or even a blogged feed? i was pretty impressed with macrumor's coverage of the WWDC last month, tho i guess we are not getting similar coverage today :(

Doubt it. WWDC people can pay to get a seat - it's how it works. This event is a media only invite thing. I suspect that the guys at MacRumors aren't high on Apple's invite list. :-)
Wow, it's been over a year since I logged in here. o.O
That's where we get the updates from. Media folks send out constant text coverage.
We'll be getting the same coverage as the WWDC, don't worry.
