Two IMTA Alumni Nominated for Kid's Choice Awards!

Two IMTA alumni have been nominated for Nickelodeon Kid Choice Awards! Alyson Stoner's Phineas and Ferb is nominated for Favorite Cartoon and Jill Wagner's show Wipeout is nominated for Favorite Reality Show. The awards show will be airing live on Nickelodeon on April 2, 2011.

Jill Wagner on Winter Wipeout Tonight!

IMTA alum Jill Wagner is back for a fourth season of Winter Wipeout airing tonight! This year's theme has been changed to winter. According to USAtoday : "We've themed everything to have a winter feel," executive producer Matt Kunitz says as he leads a visitor on a tour of the biggest Wipeout setup to date. The newest version, dubbed Winter Wipeout, also features a huge Wipeout Zone for the competitors who qualify for the final round....During the night's competition, participants on a rocket sled become human projectiles, shooting high into the air before plunging into the chilly water. Whoosh! Splash! Brrr! The sensation discombobulates one competitor so much she almost quits before going on to compete the convoluted course. 'Guys, this is pretty hard to watch,' says co-host Jill Wagner, who interviews the competitors, wrapped in winter wear. "

IMTA alumni films now out on DVD!

Three IMTA alums have films out on DVD this week: Fling (aka Lie to Me) stars two IMTA alumni; Steve Sandvoss and Brandon Routh and Splinter stars Jill Wagner. Fling won awards at several film festivals when it previewed. It is a romantic comedy about best friends, love and marriage. Brandon Routh plays the lead character James and Steve Sandvoss plays Mason.



Splinter is about a viral monster that twists the bodies of its prey into the shapes best suited to carry out its unrelenting desire to infect more victims and kill again.

Steve competed at the L.A. 2003 IMTA Convention. He was cast in Latter Days shortly after moving to L.A. to pursue his acting career. He also appeared in the feature film Rumor Has It with Jennifer Aniston. He recently wrapped Judy's Got a Gun with fellow IMTA alum Lauren Storm and the horror flick Buried Alive.His television appearances include roles on Nip/Tuck, Cold Case, Grey's Anatomy, Dr. Vegas and American Dreams. Steve is in post-production on film Exquisite Corpse.

Brandon Routh, who competed at IMTA in 1999, is currently filming three movies: Dead of Night, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Unthinkable. Before his break out role as Superman in Superman Returns, Brandon was best known for his soap work, including roles on One Life to Live and the MTV nighttime soap, Undressed. Brandon is in post-production on the films, Miss Nobody and Stuntman.

Tune into ABC to watch IMTA alum Jill Wagner host a special episode of her hit show Wipeout on Super Bowl Sunday!! According to Live Feed:

"ABC plans to counterprogram NBC’s game-day entertainment telecasts with a sports-star-studded episode of the summer obstacle-course hit “Wipeout.”...The strategy will mark the first time in five years a major broadcast network has gone after a rival’s Super Bowl momentum with original entertainment programming. It’s broadcast’s biggest day, and this is a big mass-market show, and it’s fun to be able to participate and be a part of it,” said John Saade, senior vp alternative programming at ABC. “This will put ‘Wipeout’ back in the public’s consciousness between runs, and we plan to have a lot of fun with it.”

"The two-part ABC special — dubbed “Wipeout Superball Sunday” — pulls out all the stops to cater to NFL fans: Hall of Famer Michael Irvin will lend sideline commentary, the Navy’s Blue Angels will perform a flyover, the USC marching band will storm the course, contestants will run a gantlet with quarterbacks pelting them with footballs, NFL luminaries will stop by the commentary booth, and the show’s signature Big Balls obstacle has been converted into jumbo-sized footballs." This super exciting event will all be co- hosted by Jill!!

IMTA alumni films at the Austin Film Festival!

The 15th annual Austin Film Festival screened some of the best upcoming films and shorts and IMTA alumni starred in 3 of them! "The Festival is dedicated to furthering the art, craft, and business of screenwriting and filmmaking by providing unique, year-round cultural events and services, enhancing public awareness and participation, and encouraging dynamic and long-lasting community partnerships," according to their official mission statement.

In the comedy horror, My Name is Bruce Grace Thorsen plays the lead, Kelly, which debuted at the Austin Film Festival. The story revolves around a monster who is killing people in a small mining town in Oregon. Grace won the title of Actress of the Year at IMTA convention in Los Angeles, January 2007. Her films include the dramatic Sixes and the One Eyed King, See Me Dance and she has appeared in a television series called Pastor Greg. Grace has many national commercials on her resume and was a spokesperson for Lad Advertising! Grace is in post-production on Calvin Marshall, a baseball comedy movie. Another very talented IMTA alum's film screened at the Austin film Festival; Seann William Scott in the hilarious Role Models! In this film, Seann plays Wheeler, an immature energy drink salesman. When he and his partner in sales get in trouble with the law, they have to perform 150 hours as Big Brother mentors. This leads to hilarious situations and shenanigans. Seann competed at IMTA in Los Angeles in 1995. His break-through role was as Stifler in the hit comedy American Pie and in the cult movie Dude Where's my Car? which had him teaming up with a fellow IMTA alum Ashton Kutcher. He has also starred in The Dukes of Hazzard, The Rundown, Bulletproof Monk, Ice Age: The Meltdown, Trainwreck: My Life as an Idiot, Southland Tales and The Promotion. His most recent film, Mr. Woodcock was a top ten box office hit! Role Models in scheduled to be released in theaters November 7!

IMTA alum Jill Wagner's new feature film Splinter is premiering today at this year's annual Screamfest Horror Film Festival in Hollywood! You can get a sneak peak by watching the trailer above! This sci- fi show features the adventures of a half-human half-vampire and was based on a Marvel comic book and movie of the same name. The show was nominated for a LEO award for Best Visual Effects in a Dramatic Series in 2007.
