Alaska Bear Attack Almost Killed Teens In Alaska Training Course

Denver TV station KMGH interviewed Gottsegen:
"'I thought I was going to die when I was being attacked. I was so scared,' Sam Gottsegen, 17, told 7NEWS from an Anchorage hospital bed Sunday evening."
"The bear bit Gottsegen deeply in the chest, puncturing his lung and breaking ribs. It also gave him a severe bite on the skull. He was initially in critical condition, but stabilized after surgery Sunday afternoon."
The group was taking part in a course taught by the nonprofit National Outdoor Leadership School. The mauling occurred during a portion of the training when the students were hiking on their own, without instructors. The Anchorage Daily News says it was hours before rescue crews located the stricken group:
"The teens started first aid, made a camp and activated a locator beacon the instructors had given them. The Alaska Air National Guard's Rescue Coordination Center received the beacon transmission and notified troopers about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Peters said."
"The troopers' Helo 1 flew from Fairbanks with a pilot and trooper onboard and located the camp about 2:45 a.m., Peters said."
The AP reports Victor Martin, 18, of Richmond, Calif., who was also injured in the attack, was treated for a bite above his ankle and released. Noah Allaine, 16, of Albuquerque, N.M., remained in a Palmer, Alaska, hospital in good condition with undisclosed injuries.

'See you soon Philippines,' he wrote.
However, Joyce Ramirez of Publicity Asia, the group that will bring Maurer to the Philippines, said they still need to iron things out with Star Cinema.
"STAR CINEMA and I still need to iron out a lot of details including the SCRIPT in the meantime follow @PENSHOPPE for Meet & Greet details!," Ramirez tweeted.
She added, "THE SELECTION of the ACTRESS position will only be revealed after Mario Maurer reviews the SCRIPT - so nothing is FINAL yet! Thank you."
Meanwhile, Ramirez said she will be flying to Thailand next week to introduce Star Cinema to Maurer.

Ryan Gosling in His First-Ever Comedy Film “Crazy, Stupid, Love”

Gosling describes Jacob as “sort of this guy who haunts this bar, and then he notices that Steve’s character is being even creepier than he is, so he figures he can teach him to be a Lothario. But the truth is that Jacob’s at the end of his heyday. He’s lost his luster and he’s kind of trying to pass on the baton.”
Based on an original screenplay from writer Dan Fogelman, “Crazy, Stupid, Love” follows the trials and tribulations of Cal (Steve Carrell), a man whose seemingly idyllic world is upended when his marriage falls apart. Thrust into the world of singledom, Cal, who hasn’t been single in decades, certainly has his work cut out for him. Spending his nights alone sulking at a local bar, he soon meets something of a savior in the form of Jacob. Taking pity on the hapless Cal, Jacob decides to take the middle-aged marital refugee under his wing in an attempt to help him win back his self-confidence, starting with a decent haircut and new wardrobe, and begin living his life again.

Doing comedy opposite Carell, Gosling says, “was just easy. There’s not much you can throw at him that he won’t hit. But he’s also very gracious. He finds out where your strengths are and then finds a way to play to them. I mean, Steve makes you funny… He doesn’t have that in mind, but he finds out what you can do and then he gives you opportunities to highlight that, to feature it.”
“Our first order of business was casting Jacob, because the Cal-Jacob relationship is pivotal to the film,” Producer Denise Di Novi says. “We didn’t necessarily associate Ryan with comedy, but I think because the characters in this movie have so much depth and are so complicated and so rich, and because there are dramatic elements to the story as well, he thought he could really sink his teeth into it. And then, of course, we realized how funny he is.”
Carell recalls, “Ryan is so fantastic, and it struck me from day one how comedically gifted he is. And as funny as he could be, he also made a character that was cocky and arrogant so endearing.”
To play Jacob, Gosling did his homework. “He’s really kind of a jackass,” he shares, “a knucklehead with a heart of gold who has this sort of twisted wisdom he thinks he should pass on. So I watched this TV show about a pick-up artist and read a couple of books about foolproof strategies for hitting on women. They are kind of terrifying, but I did manage to get some inspiration from them for Jacob.”
“We were awed by Ryan,” co-director John Requa says. “His insights into the character and the story were remarkable, and the interplay between him and Steve was just perfect.”
Co-director Glenn Ficarra concurs. “They had a definite chemistry and really enjoyed working together, so for us it was just a matter of capturing that.”
“Ryan is just an amazing actor, one of the smartest I’ve ever worked with,” says Ficarra. “His character, Jacob, is just this guy who’s become the perfect ladies’ man. It’s like he’s honed it down over the years to such an art form that it’s become almost scientific, like a calculation. That’s where we needed him in the story. And he plays it perfectly.”
“Ryan also brings an intelligence and a back-story to it,” adds Requa. “He sets this character apart from being just some typical womanizer. He makes it much more complex than that.”
Opening soon across the Philippines, “Crazy, Stupid Love” is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
Kyla - Rich Alvarez Wedding Set on November 28, 2011

“Sa November 28 na,” Kyla announced. “This year na ‘yan. So ilang buwan na lang,” the bride-to-be added.
The singer happily shared their pre-wedding “Save the Date” video, which was shot in Virgin Beach Resort, San Juan, Batangas.
“Kahit ako, ‘pag pinapanood ko siya, kinikilig pa rin ako,” Kyla enthused.
Dishing out anecdotes about the shoot, the singer said, “Sinabi lang nila sa amin, ‘O, basta tumakbo-takbo lang kayo. Kung ano ang gusto n’yong gawin.’ Tapos ‘yung ginawa namin sumampa ako sa kanya, tumalon. Kasi ‘yung iba, candid shot na siya, ‘yung tumatakbo-takbo na kami. Naglalaro-laro lang kami.”
With four months before the wedding date, Kyla is now on a rush in attending to some details for her altar date with the basketball player of Talk ‘N Text team, Tropang Texters, of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
“Actually, medyo kailangan ko nang madaliin ‘yung ibang mga bagay kasi mahirap, eh. Like sa church parang meron silang parang early requirement. Kunwari kailangan mong i-submit three months before. May mga gano’n. So kami, like ‘yung sa seminar namin, we have to do that as much as possible.”
Asked what her wedding theme would be, Kyla quipped, “vintage Hollywood.”
“Gusto ko lahat kasi ng guests ko very glamorous sila, maganda, gano’n. Hindi naman necessarily formal na long gown or whatever basta glamorous lang,” she explained.
She also related her simple request to her parents.
“Nag-request ako (na) ‘yung parents ko kumanta, kasi choir (members) sila dati. Sabi ko kantahan nila ako, ‘yung mga kanta nila dati, ‘yung mga kundiman.”
Kyla added, “Excited kami (na) parang ma-share na namin ‘yung... parang makapag-explore na kami together, makapag-travel kami, ‘yung gano’n. We couldn’t wait to ano, parang travel and explore the world together.”
Kyla doesn’t hide the fact that she feels very fortunate to have met Rich, with whom she has been for about five years now. “Sobrang thankful ako kay Lord kasi naka-meet ako ng tao na katulad niya.”
Back in February, Kyla recalled how rich proposed to her the month before.
“Bale nag-dinner lang kami sa isang hotel somewhere. Hindi ko naman ine-expect na in-invite niya ‘yung parents ko, parents niya, tapos ‘yung mga titos [and] titas namin. Tapos nandu’n na silang lahat [sa venue]. Ayun, nag-propose na siya," she recalled.
In another interview, she also shared details about her dream wedding. "Gusto ko traditional, 'yong naglalakad sa church... Medyo may pagka-Filipina ako, minsan ka lang kasing ikasal, 'di ba, kaya maglalakad na ko sa aisle."

“Deep Gold” Goes Underwater in Philippines

Written and directed by Michael Gleissner, who’s also known for his acclaimed work in “Irreversi,” “Deep Gold” is filmed entirely in the scenic islands of Cebu and Palawan where a champion free-diver Amy (Pham) and her sister Jess (Ong) are entrapped in a web of lies on the disappearance of a government plane carrying a fortune in gold. Amy then gets involved in a web of lies and deceit as she seeks the truth on the disappearance of his boyfriend along with the fortune.
“Deep Gold” features eye-popping 3D action sequences, including spectacular underwater footage using the shooting tank located at Bigfoot facilities in Cebu. Gleissner together with Rick Robinson, the film’s director of photography and an Emmy Award winner leads us deep into the bottom of filming the movie under Philippine waters.
Working on a quality 3D film, Gleissner shares – “The Phillippines provided spectacular locations and was the ideal place to set the movie in, given the story. Filming on a tropical location that does not have a Hollywood-style film industry has some challenges. For example, we totally underestimated how much time it takes to shoot on boats, as the setup of equipment and lights are a lot more complicated.”
Robinson, on the other hand shares that this is his first time shooting underwater. “I am primarily concerned with lighting and underwater lighting, it reflects light differently than shooting on land, especially when it comes to water clarity. The complex process that is underwater filming required more than acute understanding of lighting. To achieve this for “Deep Gold,” Bigfoot had to train the crew, mostly Filipinos to make these spectacular underwater scenes come to fruition. The local Filipino crew underwent training to work with the underwater shooting because it requires specific knowledge that cannot be received anywhere else in the country,” shares Robinson.
Although originally shot in 2D, Gleissner’s decision to convert the film into stereoscopic 3D is due to deeper engagement experience 3D brings to the audience. “Using 3D allows the audience to feel as though they are part of the action – turning them into participants instead of spectators.
Now that 3D films are becoming mainstream, Gleissner predicts that within a few years it will become the norm to film in 3D. “With the cost of converting a film from 2D to 3D going down and the quality of conversion going up, a lot more independent films are able to utilize this. 3D makes films more competitive within the marketplace,” Gleissner concludes.
“Deep Gold’ opens in Phil. cinemas on August 31 from Bigfoot Entertainment.
"Bad Teacher" – a Rare, Raunchy Comedy Headlined by a Woman

Director Jake Kasdan notes, “It’s very unusual to find an edgy, R-rated comedy centered around a woman,” he says. “The R rating gives you enormous freedom to be as completely insane as you want to be in any moment – and we were with a group of people who embraced that completely.”
In the film, Elizabeth Halsey (Diaz) is a teacher who just doesn’t give an F. She’s foul-mouthed, ruthless, and wildly inappropriate. She drinks, she gets high, and she can’t wait to marry her meal ticket and walk away from her day job teaching middle school. When she’s dumped by her fiancé, she sets her plan in motion to win over a rich, handsome substitute (Timberlake) – competing for his affections with an overly energetic colleague, Amy (Lucy Punch) – but finds herself fighting off the advances of an irreverent gym teacher (Jason Segel). Elizabeth’s outrageous schemes and their wild consequences will shock her students, her coworkers, and even herself.
When the idea for “Bad Teacher” came to the screenwriting team of Gene Stupnitsky & Lee Eisenberg, they knew they’d hit on something incredibly rare and special. “It seemed like there weren’t a lot of comedy roles for women,” says Eisenberg. “We would see so many funny women on ‘Saturday Night Live’ and on talk shows, and they’d be hysterical and charming, and then we’d go to the movies and they’d be props to get two guys to become friends or whatever. We really wanted to write a project for a comedienne.”
“I thought it was one of the funniest scripts I had ever read,” says Kasdan. “Lee and Gene have a completely original, hilarious voice – I think that they’ve written one of the great female comedy parts, and we found the perfect person to play her in Cameron Diaz.”
Eisenberg says Kasdan also shared an innate understanding of what set the material apart. “Jake was very collaborative. Of course, he had ideas about the development of the script – small changes that were key to Elizabeth’s growth. When I see the movie now, I remember having those discussions in Jake’s kitchen – all of his instincts were so smart.”
“It’s important to me, when I’m directing someone else’s script, to have the writers really involved with the production,” says Kasdan. “Particularly with comedies. It’s a huge asset. You can have different jokes available to you as you do it – try to make the movie funnier as you shoot it.”
Kasdan says it is Diaz’s willingness to completely give herself over to the role that sets her apart. “Cameron has got this great thing: she is completely fearless,” says Kasdan. “She enjoys being dirty and edgy and she’s completely open-minded about what might work. She was the perfect person to be at the center of this and it was a real gift for the writers and me to be working with her.”
Opening across the Philippines in August, “Bad Teacher” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International. Visit www.sonypictures.com.ph to see the latest trailers, get free downloads and play free movie games.

Sneak Peek: “Zookeeper”

In the film, the animals at the Franklin Park Zoo love their kindhearted caretaker, Griffin Keyes (James). Finding himself more comfortable with a lion than a lady, Griffin decides the only way to get a girl in his life is to leave the zoo and find a more glamorous job. The animals, in a panic, decide to break their time-honored code of silence and reveal their biggest secret: they can talk! To keep Griffin from leaving, they decide to teach him the rules of courtship – animal style.
“This role was made for Kevin James,” says director Frank Coraci. “I’ve been watching him for years and he’s always made me laugh, on ‘The King of Queens’ and in `Hitch,' in `Chuck and Larry.' He’s sort of a little bit Jackie Gleason, a little bit of Jimmy Stewart, but he makes it his own – loveable, very original comedy. He reaches all ages across the board, so I think this movie is his kind of movie.”
The film also features the voices of Cher, Nick Nolte, Adam Sandler, and Sylvester Stallone.
Opening soon across the Philippines, “Zookeeper” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International. Visit www.sonypictures.com.ph to see the latest trailers, get free downloads and play free movie games.
